Sakhi is SMFG India Credit’s flagship CSR initiatives under the Education vertical, designed to foster financial awareness and empowerment among women and adolescent girls. By promoting financial inclusion, the program contributes to building more resilient and informed communities.
Targeting rural, peri-urban, and urban slum areas across multiple states in India, Sakhi combines the reach of digital technology with the power of community engagement to maximise its impact.
A key feature of the program is the selection and training of a master trainer, known as a “Sakhi,” from within the community. These Sakhis are equipped by SMFG India Credit to deliver financial literacy sessions using digital tools such as tablets and animated storytelling, making learning accessible, engaging, and relatable for their peers.
